01-02-2010 - February – SWT’s month for the Oldies
We would like to dedicate
February to the older dogs who often get looked over and as many of us
know, they can be the best companions. If anyone sees older sighthounds
needing homes, please post their details here (with owners/rescue’s
permission) in the Sighthounds Needing Homes Section.
Some of you may know, we are going to pay for Poppet's operation(estimated to be around? £400). Poppet, an older whippet or whippet cross was found wandering fields near Maidstone, Kent and has been taken in by Sharon who rescues dogs in this area. Poppet has a huge lump on her neck that the vet has diagnosed as a blocked saliva gland.
We are also running a raffle during the month to allow Sighthound Welfare Trust to make a grant to the The Oldies Club. The OC work hard to find homes for all older dogs and if you are thinking of adopting an oldie, please take a look at their website . Details of the raffle will be available shortly on forums.
There is also a video on YouTube, illustrating some of your older sighthounds.Donna and Kirsty have kindly written articles about their older sighthounds, telling us just what sweet and loving dogs they can often be and giving an insight to living with oldies.
We would also love to hear about your older sighthounds, so please visit the forums and tell us all why you love them so much and show us your gorgeous pictures.
